NLC Boycotts Meeting With FG Ahead Of Warning Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has boycotted a meeting organised by the federal government to avert their two-day nationwide warning strike billed to commence on Tuesday.
The minister of labour and employment, Simon Lalong had convened the meeting which was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday.
According to Daily Trust, the meeting, however, started at exactly 5:32 p.m. with only the leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led by its president, Festus Osifo, present.
Recall that the NLC, led by its president, Joe Ajaero, had on Friday, directed workers across the country to embark on a two-day warning strike from September 5, over the hardship being faced by Nigerians.
The move became imperative after the hike in electricity tariff, hike in school fees of public institutions, hike in prices of food, and most importantly, the harsh effects of the removal of fuel subsidy which has led to the continued increase in fuel price.
