MRT-3 offers free rides to students aged 18 and below on Nov 6

MANILA, Philippines — Free rides await students 18 years old and below at Manila Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) during select hours on Monday in celebration of National Children’s Month.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in an advisory that free train rides will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. only.
Students only need to present a valid school ID to the station security personnel to avail of the free ride.

“Nakikiisa po ang buong linya ng MRT-3 sa pagdiriwang ng National Children’s Month ngayong buwan ng Nobyembre. Nawa po sa aming libreng sakay ay maipadama namin sa ating mga kabataan ang aming paghanga at pagpapahalaga sa kanilang galing at husay, na siyang magiging pundasyon ng ating maunlad na bayan,” said DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino.

The DOTr said MRT-3’s free ride for students 18 years and below was its response to a request from the National Council for the Welfare of Children in connection with the Children’s Month celebration, and its way of paying tribute to Filipino children.
