Kevin Sumlin, Maryland assistant coach, arrested on DUI charge in Florida
Kevin Sumlin, the associate head coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Maryland football team, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Saturday morning in Tampa, according to a report filed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest, first reported by the Diamondback student newspaper, occurred at 12:40 a.m. on Highway 301 east of downtown Tampa. Sumlin, 59, refused a blood alcohol test, according to the police report, and was taken into custody before being released at 8:56 a.m. on a $500 cash bond.
